BUSINESSMAN Farai Matsika has been sucked in a bribery storm involving supply of vehicles to ruling party Zanu PF affiliate FAZ during the 2023 elections, according to media reports in Zimbabwe.
Circumstances are that through his company Faramats Motors, Matsika paid a hefty inducement to Deputy Director General (Rtd) Asher Tapfumaneyi to win a contract of supplying vehicles to Forever Association of Zimbabwe (FAZ) but the deal went sour.
Tapfumaneyi was the brainchild of FAZ which was disbanded.
“What happened is Matsika paid Tapfumaneyi a substantial amount of money to win the contract.
“He was successful but Tapfumaneyi then embezzled millions of dollars in respect of the vehicles procurement.
“Matsika is a smart, cunning and streetwise businessman bred in Mufakose so he recorded a video of the corrupt transaction.
“So when Tapfumaneyi wanted to corner him to deliver the cars,Matsika produced the video evidence of the bribery act forcing Tapfumaneyi to develop cold feet and sought intervention from his associates to save his skin,” said our source .
The media shy Matsika was also recently involved in a legal battle with his uncle Moses Chingwena over Croco Motors shareholding.
The matter was not without it’s controversy with money said to have exchanged hands to the judiciary system with Croco Motors being the chief culprit.
Efforts to get in touch with Matsika hit a snag as his mobile phone went unanswered at the time of writing. – Pravdazim
