HARARE – ZANU PF Secretary for the Youth League, Tino Machakaire, delivered a strong warning to those attempting to create divisions within the ruling party’s presidium, emphasizing that such behavior will not be tolerated.
Speaking to a gathering of supporters in the Wedza South constituency, Machakaire made it clear that any efforts to sow discord among party leaders would be met with decisive action, including expulsion from the party.
“Our party presidium is unified,” Machakaire asserted. “Those who seek to divide us must understand that they are not welcome here. If you hear me discussing divisive issues among our leaders, you can be sure that I am not reflecting the will of the party. We should refrain from making statements that undermine our unity. President Emmerson Mnangagwa is our leader; he commands our utmost respect, as do all his Vice Presidents.”
Machakaire urged party members to direct their efforts toward collective goals rather than engaging in discussions that threaten unity.
“We must avoid conversations that lead to division. Ngatisataurai kwatisana kuswera (don’t say things you do not know). Every member should diligently work for the party and reject divisive characters. The politics of disparaging our leaders must cease immediately.”
He reiterated the party’s commitment to addressing anyone who seeks to create unnecessary rifts within its ranks.
“Respect your leaders—whether chief, elder, or village head—if you wish to lead a harmonious life. Those who aim to create divisions among us are not welcome. It is akin to being summoned by your chief in a traditional court and attempting to dictate terms; Zvoto zvinemazera (such actions will not be tolerated).”
In addition to addressing unity, Machakaire highlighted his commitment to youth development within the party.
“Our focus is on fostering both development and unity among our people. We are actively empowering youths through various initiatives, including sponsorships for driver’s licenses and enrollment in technical courses. This is just the beginning of our efforts to support and uplift the younger generation.”
Machakaire’s remarks come at a time when factional tensions within the party have garnered increasing scrutiny.
His call for unity resonates strongly among party loyalists who believe that a cohesive front is essential as the party prepares for upcoming elections and governance challenges.
Under Machakaire’s leadership, the youth league aims to reinforce ZANU PF’s broader goals, promoting an environment of cooperation and collective progress.
The meeting concluded with a renewed spirit of unity among attendees, reflecting Machakaire’s vision for a strong, cohesive ZANU PF capable of effectively addressing the needs and aspirations of its members and the country at large.
