Mega housing scheme expanding

Nyasha Makuvise,, executive chairman of Nyore Nyore Housing Scheme

NYORE Nyore Housing Scheme – a landholding and development company, plans to provide 1 250 000 housing units by the end of next, a development that will go a long way to reduce the country’s housing backlog.

Speaking on the sideline of the “Making Money Make Sense” Conference held at Celebration Centre in Harare, Nyasha Makuvise, the executive chairman of Nyore Nyore Housing Scheme said the organization was meant to avail affordable stands and compact housing units to low-income earners on friendly terms.

“By the end of next year, we will provide 1 250 000 units, beginning with 250,000 units in Mashonaland East at our Tantallon and Edinburgh Estates—the first gated high-density communities of their kind outside Zimbabwe’s main cities. Next, we will deliver Half a million units in Mashonaland West, covering Kariba, Chinhoyi, Chegutu, Kadoma, and Zvimba,” said Makuvise a former renowned banker.

The conference was headlined by Robert Kiyosaki, the celebrated American businessman, investor, and best-selling author of Rich Dad Poor Dad. He spoke about wealth creation, financial literacy, and entrepreneurship.

Analysts said the Nyore Nyore Housing Scheme is expected to augment President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s 2030 vision for an upper middle-income economy.

The demand for housing has over the years outstripped supply, driven by rural-to-urban and inter-city migration in major cities such as Harare, Bulawayo, Gweru and Mutare, where people believe there are better prospects for employment.

“Our vision is to be a trusted partner in shaping the future of Zimbabwe through well-planned, modern communities. Our mission is to make housing affordable and accessible to all. The name Nyore Nyore literally means “easy.” True to our name, we aim to make access to housing easy—through low costs and flexible payment terms,” he said.

The current housing backlog stands at over 1,3 million countrywide, with Harare accounting for the bulk of this requirement. As a result, prevalence of informal settlements that lack basic infrastructure and sustainable service has increased significantly across most towns and cities.

The major benefits of our scheme are straightforward these include low-cost housing, flexible payment terms—starting with a small deposit and repayment periods of at least seven years, extendable up to ten. In short, Nyore Nyore is building the foundation for a better Zimbabwe—modern, affordable, and accessible housing for all,” Makuvise said.

The conference was hosted by Dr. Nigel Chanakira, Chairman of SMI, LMI, and FMI (AfriCan), and organized by his company, Power Tank, the official distributor of Success Management International, Leadership Management International, and Family Management.
