On Wednesday, the Honourable Chief Minister of Jharkhand, Mr Hemant Soren, lodged a formal grievance with the authorities regarding the conduct of the Enforcement Directorate personnel who are scrutinising his involvement in an alleged land fraud incident, as per reports from the news agency ANI.
The Enforcement Directorate has been actively engaging Mr Hemant Soren in inquiries, despite his absence in response to multiple summonses previously.
In anticipation of the investigation, security measures were escalated, and a prohibition order under Section 144 was enforced in the vicinity of his domicile.
In a display of solidarity, the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha party, of which Hemant Soren is a member, organised a gathering of its legislative members at his residence located on Kanke Road.
A party supporter expressed to the press agency PTI their perspective that the Chief Minister was being unjustifiably targeted by the Enforcement Directorate under directives from the central authorities, and intimated that the party was prepared to initiate an economic blockade throughout the state in protest.
Mr Soren, aged 48, had previously engaged in discussions with the authorities concerning the matter on January 20, although those discussions were curtailed prematurely after a session that extended over seven hours, an official disclosed.

As part of an investigation into an extensive unlawful land ownership transfer syndicate in Jharkhand, Mr Soren is currently subjected to scrutiny by the Enforcement Directorate officials.
In a previous communication addressed to the investigating agency, Mr Soren had contested the integrity of their tactics, suggesting that their actions bore the hallmarks of a politically motivated campaign intended to undermine the state administration’s proceedings.
He further contested that the urgency with which the agency demanded a second statement from him before or on January 31st was laced with ulterior motives.
